About Siesta Key - Florida Best Beach Real Estate

If you've never heard of Siesta Key then you're in for a treat that most travel professionals know well.  The sand at Siesta Key's Crescent Beach was rated as "The World's Finest, Whitest Sand™" at the Great International Sand Challenge in 1987 beating more than 30 entrants and the Travel Channel recognized it as "The Best Sand Beach in America" in 2004, in addition, in 2017 TripAdvisor gave Siesta Key the 5th best beach... IN THE WORLD!

Siesta Key is an 8 mile long, crescent-shaped barrier island easily accessible by one of 2 bridges connecting it to the Mainland of Sarasota. Siesta Key has 4 main areas, Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach, Turtle Beach and Siesta Key Village, each with their own characteristics and style.

If you travel south, you will find Crescent beach which also feature the famous flat beaches, yet is less crowded due to only one public access point. Continuing even further south, you will find Turtle Beach which features a steeper sloping beach, with more shells and rocks, perfect for little ones who like to collect shells. Siesta Key homes For Sale: There are over 100 homes for sale in Siesta Key Florida at the moment ranging from penthouse style to 1 bedroom getaways.

Just north of Siesta Beach, Siesta Key Village has many stores ranging from hip and funky to high-end boutiques and, of course, we wouldn't be a beach town without the beach accessory and souvenir shops. This mostly pedestrian village is an ideal spot to shop, enjoy a casual bite or fine dining. Siesta Key does have a drug store and post office available for residents and visitors.

Siesta Key Home FAQ

What Siesta Key Homes Are Oceanfront?

That's a great question!

What are the main areas of Siesta Key?

There are 3 main areas of Siesta Key.  There's the Village where a lot of the restaurants are.  While you can't really get ocean front there it's the beginning of Siesta Key Beach.  Then there is "The Crescent"  this is the nicest of the beaches with white sand and crystal clear water.  There's only one access point so while it can get crowded during holidays it's generally not over crowded.  Turtle Beach is the last area and is a bit steeper and rockier.  The other area worth mentioning is Pointe Rock - while not a touristy destination it's probably the best place to try snorkeling if you're looking for some wildlife.

Are Siesta Key beaches crowded?

That's a very "relative" question - as in even when Siesta key beaches feel crowded no one is closer than a distant relative should be.  In all seriousness it's less crowded then Destin, FL which is the beach that most commonly get compared to Siesta Key.   Turtle Beach is the most quiet of the 3 beaches, however the sand is not as white (it's actually dark) and the drop off in the water tends to keep families away.

Which Siesta Key Beach area is best for families with children?

Crescent Beach is the flattest and most wide open.  It's the kind of beach that causes Siesta Key to win Tripadvisors 2017 best beach award.  Siesta Beach would be second (out of the 3 options).  Turtle Beach is beautiful but with it's steep incline/decline into the ocean your children would have a rough time if they weren't powerful swimmers already.  The sand in Turtle is more coarse as well.

Can you live in the Village and still have beachfront?

Not really.  It's relatively close and you might catch a glimpse of the ocean with some of the homes but it's far enough away that you really can't call it beachfront.

Are There Other Ways To Get Around Siesta Key Without A Car?

Yes!  Siesta Key now has a trolley running from 8AM to Midnight, so there's always an option to save money and buy a condo that isn't beach front and just use the trolley.  Truth be told, the most convenient homes to live in aren't on the beach.

Siesta Key Real Estate Agents

When you are thinking about buying a Siesta Key house you really need to consider a Real Estate Agent that knows Siesta Key like the back of their hand.  Just being an agent in Sarasota isn't really going to serve you well if the Realtor doesn't know the difference between the best buildings with the best views of the beach or which building is even oceanfront.  Your really need a Siesta Key Condo Real Estate specialist.  Lucky Cheryl Gunther with Platinum Remax is just that, a Siesta Key Beach Realtor!
